Vinyl Record to CD:

• We transfer audio from any record - single, EP, LP or 78.
• We use digital processing to minimise crackles and pops.
• We insert searchable track markers, just like a commercial CD.

Successfully transferring audio from vinyl to CD is not just a matter of putting a record on the turntable, pressing “start” and walking away. The process is in fact much more involved:

First, the disc is gently cleaned. Each side is then played on a linear tracking turntable through a pro-quality interface into a specialised computer programme. The audio is analysed and processed to minimise any crackles and pops. Where necessary, more severe clicks are removed (or reduced) by manually modifying the waveform. Next, track markers are inserted at the start of each piece of music (so that you can search for tracks) and the enhanced recording is then ‘burnt” onto a master quality CD. Finally, a disc label is set up, printed and fitted, before the CD is checked and supplied with a jewel case. Not a 5 minute job!

Tape to CD:

• We transfer audio from almost any format open reel or standard cassette tape.
• We process open reel tapes from 3” to 10.5”  and up to 15 ips speed.
• We use digital processing to minimise hiss and hum where necessary.

Although cassette tapes are pretty standard in their format, open reel tapes can be much more diverse. Apart from the vast array of reel sizes, they may have been recorded as 2 or 4 track, mono or stereo, with up to five different speed options. Frequently, the machine types are now obsolete, so we sometimes have to play the tapes faster than they were recorded, then digitally return the audio to it’s original speed. Quite a time consuming process!

• From both sides of a 45 rpm single, 33 rpm extended play, or 78 rpm record £10.00
• From both sides of a 33 rpm Long Play (LP) record £15.00
• From both sides of a cassette tape (maximum total time 78 minutes) £15.00 to £20.00
• From both sides of an open reel tape £15.00 to £25.00 according to format and playing time.
